Title: Double Play
Creative director: Joel Niebauer
Software Used: Cinema 4D & Adobe After Effects
process: After working on Rockies Weekly, Joel wanted a more traditional sports package: 3D logos, glassy reflections, lens flares, etc. But he still wanted to make it unique.
We came up with the idea of flying around the second base and seeing the reflections of the stadium as well as images from the game around it.
The total package included an opening animation which lead directly to a tease window, two wipes, a still tease window, as well as a 3D bug which would be in top corner throughout the entire broadcast.
I designed the logo, modeled all the elements in Cinema 4D and then composited the footage in After Effects. The dirt particles were from Video Copilot's Action Movie Essentials 2.
The project was a lot of fun and a great challenge. You can check out the boards for the opening as well as the 3D bug below.
