TMDB Integration
I integrated The Movie Database (TMDB) into this website to supply the movie information behind Film Diary and Lists, Targets & Types. It provides details like posters, release dates, runtimes, genres, and cast and crew credits. Each film has a TMDB ID, which lets me connect the same movie across different parts of the site.
Film Diary combines my Letterboxd watch history with that information. Letterboxd records what I watched and when, while TMDB supplies the details used to display the films and build viewing statistics, including the directors, actors, and genres I’ve watched most.
Lists, Targets & Types uses TMDB IDs to connect curated movie lists with my watch history. That lets me browse the films in a collection, see which ones I’ve already watched, and find unwatched movies that appear across multiple lists. The information is stored in local JSON files so those pages can use it without making a new API request for every visit.
